Holy Spirit Time

Recently we had a great speaker, Dick Schroeder, come to MSU Chi Alpha and share with the students on the baptism in the Holy Spirit, and just give general ministry and counseling where needed. It was a wonderful time for the students. Dick was an excellent listener and encourager, which is precisely what some of these aspiring professionals need. He really laid a good message on the table the evening that he was with us at Pastor Mark's house. Three students in particular were eager to be prayed for baptism in the HS and showed a great passion to pursue God more intensely moving forward. Praise God!

Here's a little more about Dick and his HS Series. He basically travels almost exclusively to XA (Chi Alpha) ministries, but also other venues, around the nation just to serve them however they feel they need service at the time. He's a cool guy.

One of the great things about Dick is that he is so sensitive to the what the Holy Spirit is speaking. He spent a whole day just meeting one-on-one with Chi Alpha students, listening and speaking encouragement. Afterward, we had a time of feedback with students for them to discuss their expectations and experiences with Dick. It was really valuable to see the different ways the Holy Spirit was speaking to each student exactly what they needed - it really helped to grow our faith in how to listen to the voice of God.

Bowling for Friends

We've been having a blast this spring semester with all of our friends at MSU. The weather is still finicky, but we know exactly what we're working toward. Bowling is a perfect winter connecting point. What's more, our international friends LOVE bowling. Too bad we had to say goodbye to some of them again already.

TWMS 3: Because I Care

The Northern Asia (China) Experience

56 students piled onto a bus on December 27th to embark on an less-than-comfortable 24 hour ride to Fort Worth, Texas. The purpose: The World Missions Summit 3, where thousands of college students from around the nation (and from all over the globe) flocked to find out what it means to give a year of their life for the work of Christ. The Holy Spirit was awesome in the Fort Worth Convention Center and before the three day event was over, more than 1,000 students made a commitment to become a missionary for at least one year, and then pray about a lifetime.

Trinity the Conquerer

Our friend Trinity Mutatu, from Zimbabwe, had a fun experience with God and felt motivated to pursue his burden for missions in China. Trinity is giving a year!

Megan knew she wanted to use her abilities in veterinary medicine to spread the gospel, but she didn't know where. Now she does; Megan will be giving a year in Russia, and who knows where God will take her afterward. She's praying for a lifetime of commitment!

Thousands of these stories began to unfold in Texas and I personally can't wait to see the impact of these motivated young professionals spreading their talents and abilities all throughout the world in the name of Jesus Christ!

This happened because of YOU! Thanks. We want to emphasize the importance of OUR work (you and us) together. Two different roles, one very large impact.

American History Lessons

Laura and YuHua

If history isn't an amazing way to begin a great conversation about purpose, meaning, and faith then I've completely misinterpreted great lessons from our fathers and grandfathers! Which is very much possible. Laura and I love to bless our students with a meaningful and unique activity for each holiday throughout the year and for Christmas we visited Greenfield Village. This experience made for a wonderful time of relationship building. Just three of our international friends were available to come, but that made it more personal.

For those of you who are unaware, Greenfield Village is an historic village where actors are paid to dress, speak, work, cook, and generally live as though it was the late 1800's up to around the 1920's. Visitors are able to explore the village, about 4 city blocks in size, and interact with the inhabitants (actors) as they display their lives, food, and work for all to see. There are many questions to be answered when learning about American history, some of which even have specifically to do with faith in God and Jesus Christ.


Thank YOU for making this experience possible, and for helping us to dive deeper in relationship with our students in order to build bridges and stumble upon new topics important for building a foundation of faith.
